Potholes sink road budgets
"They spring up where they spring up. It's kind of like a teenager with acne." So said Kirk Weston, director of the St. Clair County Road Commission, about the predictability of potholes. The randomness already has started, with several area roads bearing the cratered scars of winter. .

Bill Gates' keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show 2008 revealed a rather startling statistic with regards to the sales and acceptance performance of Windows Vista. Gates told the audience that Windows Vista has sold more than 100 million copies since the operating system's launch in January 2007. When comparing pure numbers against Windows XP, which sold only 89 million copies in its first year, Windows Vista appears to be a hit – but looking at the big picture sheds a different sort of light on the matter. With the PC market at nearly twice the size today as it was in 2001, InformationWeek surmises that Windows Vista captured around 39 percent of the new PC market in its first year, while Windows XP managed to grab 67 percent of the new PC market during its initial period.
Police pursue leads in Rowan student's death
Five days after the fatal beating of a Rowan University student, police continue to interview potential witnesses and obtain tips from an anonymous tipline. A $50,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people involved in the Saturday night attack that killed Donald "Donnie" Farrell, a 19-year-old business major from Boonton Township, Morris County.
At least four men stopped to ask Farrell for directions to a party shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. Before he could turn to Beau Rivage, the apartment complex across Bowe Boulevard where he lived, at least one man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
The teenager died Sunday from a ruptured blood vessel in his neck. The blow to his neck, either a kick or a punch, police say, ruptured the right vertebral artery, which carries blood to the brain.

There are very few studies showing the association between food and acne. People think that the greasy foods — like chocolate, pizza and fried foods — somehow clog their pores and the oils get secreted onto their skin. In fact, acne is caused by the gland getting clogged by skin cells and bacteria. Recent studies have shown the possible link between milk and other dairy products with the development of acne. It is thought that hormones and other bioactive molecules may stimulate the glands causing acne. I usually recommend limiting but not eliminating dairy.
After the borders came down
