Recruiting | Success in the state key to UW's class
The Washington Huskies signed one of their best classes in years today, recruiting analysts agree. What's a little harder to gauge is how much that means. Washington's class was rated No. 10 in the nation and No. 2 in the Pac-10 by Scout.com as of Tuesday morning, and No. 18 nationally and third in the Pac-10 by Rivals.com. Those numbers could vary a little, but probably not a lot, giving the Huskies their loftiest rankings of the Tyrone Willingham era. "It's easily their best class in some time," said Greg Biggins, a recruiting analyst for Rivals.com and StudentSportsFootball.com. "It's probably the best year for in-state talent in a lot of years, and they've pretty much gotten everybody they wanted [in the state]. "There were a lot of really good in-state guys like Kavario Middleton and Everrette Thompson that in the past might have left the state, and they were able to keep those guys.
Bottum: McCain and the Hoyas
I'd missed it earlier in the week, but over at Salon on Tuesday, Mike Madden noted that after the Georgetown-West Virginia game on January 26, John McCain called Mark Salter, his "longtime speechwriter/Senate chief of staff/intellectual alter ego," to describe the goaltend (er, block, I mean; yes, block) by which Patrick Ewing Jr. had won the game. "A Georgetown alum," Madden notes, "Salter has season tickets in the front row at the Verizon Center; about the only thing that gets him more fired up than Mitt Romney is Big East basketball. (At the bar after the Super Bowl Sunday night, he cursed at the TV when the Boston Fox affiliate compared the Giants' win to Villanova's 1985 NCAA tournament upset win over Georgetown)." Seems pretty newsworthy to me, but Madden pushes it into the mystical territory of the true Georgetown fanatic where my daughter and I dwell when he adds: "The Hoyas have been a near-perfect predictor of McCain's fortunes this year.
Isolagen Inc. Completes Injections Of Isolagen Therapy(TM) In Phase ...
Isolagen(TM), Inc. (Amex: ILE) announced that injections have been completed in the pivotal Phase III multi-center, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials evaluating the Isolagen Therapy(TM) for the treatment of nasolabial folds, or wrinkles (Studies IT-A-005 and IT-A-006). Subjects have advanced to the follow-up period of the study.
Isolagen also announced the completion of injections in the Phase II open label study designed to gather further safety and potential application information on the use of the Isolagen Therapy(TM) for the full face (Study IT-A-007). The subjects in this study also have advanced to the follow-up period.
"These are important clinical milestones to Isolagen, especially the advancement of our lead Phase III pivotal wrinkle study to the follow-up period of the trial," said Declan Daly, Chief Executive Officer of Isolagen, Inc.
